On 12th-14th May 2009, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia - over 1 million students from over 9,000 schools - will sit the same tests in Literacy and Numeracy.

In NAPLAN, Literacy includes:
1. Reading
2. Writing
3. Language Conventions (which comprises spelling, grammar and punctuation)
Numeracy comprises:
1. Number
2. Algebra, function and pattern
3. Space
4. Measurement, chance and data
