HOW
IT WORKS:
Peer
mediation is for people who have a problem with other students. The
problem may have erupted into a fight in the playground. It
may be about a classroom misunderstanding about friendships. It could be about relationships, especially when people say
things they shouldn’t say about other people. Or the problem might
be about students picking on other students.
THE
SERVICE:
- is
available to every student
- runs
every lunchtime
- is
completely confidential
- is
run by students, not teachers
- lets
students air differences with a third party who doesn’t take
sides
- helps
students find answers which should work
HOW
STUDENTS CAN USE THE SERVICE:
- Check
out the photos of peer mediators in the library - they will be
rostered on different days
- Make
an appointment by placing a note in the box located in the Library
- In
your note give your name(s) and any details you can about your
problem (your name is enough if you do not wish to say more!)
- Turn
up at the seminar room next to the careers office at lunchtime
on the day you have made an appointment.
- If
you have any problems with the service you can see one of the
teachers who organise the rosters for peer mediation.
