Students
are encouraged to work towards achieving the school’s highest awards
by being able to “trade” awards at one level for an award at the
next highest level.
For
achievements within the classroom, pastoral care, or outside the
classroom, students are awarded a Teacher’s Award. For example -
for consistent effort, excellent behaviour, a good assignment, a
good test result, improvements, improved behaviour, participation
in pastoral care activities, leadership, improved attendance, uniform,
public speaking, work on magazine, work on school environment, community
service.
Five
teachers awards from any area are taken to the Assistant Year Adviser who awards and presents a Bronze Award. Assistant Year Adviser's keep accurate
records of these and pass them on to the administration office at
the end of each week. Bronze Awards will be presented to students
at their year assembly and the names of the awardees will be published
in the monthly school newsletter.
Three
bronze certificates will gain a silver certificate and three silver
certificates will gain a gold certificate. These can be traded with
the Assistant Year Adviser. Accurate records will be kept
by the Assistant Year Adviser who will pass the information on to the administration
office.
Any
teacher may make recommendation to an Assistant Year Adviser
at any time for a student to receive a Bronze Award for outstanding
school service (representing the school in debating or public speaking,
voluntary work on a school environment project), outstanding school
report, outstanding sporting achievement, or outstanding service
to the community
There
are no restrictions on combining higher awards from the same areas.
The
Principal has the discretion to award certificates to recognise deserving
students.
Silver
Awards are presented on assembly and published in the newsletter.
Gold and Diamond Awards are presented at a special assembly held
each semester.
The
awards are accumulated over six years of secondary education.
Students
can progress to bronze, silver, gold and diamond level by gaining
teachers awards for their efforts both inside and outside the classroom.
Students who are placed on orange, brown or purple level may still
receive teachers awards but these cannot be converted to a bronze,
silver, gold or diamond certificate while he or she remains on that
level.
