The
bullying register is coordinated by the HT Student Welfare. Parents
will be informed and regularly reminded of the register via the newsletter;
students will be informed on assembly and in PC groups and by classroom
teachers.
It
is also recommended that students be referred to Peer Mediation as
soon as possible if the situation allows it.
1.
When a bullying incident occurs, the teacher should investigate and
deal with it and immediately write a notification to their Head Teacher
(faculty or playground).
2.
Upon receipt of the notification, the Head Teacher should also interview
the students involved (bully and victim) and inform parents. The
notification, preferably with a large B in the upper corner, should
then be passed on to the HT Student Welfare for inclusion of the
student’s name on the register.
3.
The HT Student Welfare should enter name and then refer the students
(bully and victim) to the PCYC for immediate counselling. The HT
Student Welfare will also interview and explain the bullying register
process to the bully.
4.
If a second bullying incident occurs, the same procedure occurs as
above and the HT Student Welfare will refer the students to the counsellor
and/or harassment officer.
5.
Upon the third incident the student will be referred to the principal
for immediate suspension.
