ADVANCED SEARCH - using
more complicated methods of searching, with combinations of terms,
(using AND, NOT, OR, NEAR, etc.), and limitations (such as language
or region).
AUTHORITY - is
the author an expert on the subject? qualified to give details?
BOOKMARKS - a
list of useful sites, previously visited & 'bookmarked' for
future use.
BOOLEAN TERMS - words
used to create a particular combination of keywords (e.g. cats
AND dogs will give sites which mention both cats and dogs, while
Panthers NOT football will eliminate the Penrith Panthers ARL site
from the hit list, and give animal sites, hopefully)
BROWSER - a
program which allows you to access the WWW (e.g. Internet Explorer,
Netscape).
DATABASE - a
list of information which can be searched using keywords
FORMAT - the
way in which information is presented (e.g. book form, CD ROM,
KEYWORDS -
words which contain the main ideas of the research topic.
PERIODICAL - a
magazine/publication which comes out regularly.
RELEVANT DATA - information
that is useful to research - answers the question.
SEARCH ENGINES - a
program which helps you find information on the WWW
SOURCE - where
the information is found.
