Late Procedures
"Late” is defined as arriving any time after 8.30am, because of late buses, illness and appointments. Students who arrive after 8.30 am will not be let into roll call. Instead they must report to the front office, with their swipe card, and swipe in as late. This will then be recorded as a Partial Attendance.
When the student swipes in, a slip is generated. The top half of the slip becomes the pass to enter class, the bottom part is to be taken home, signed by a parent or guardian and returned to school the next day. It should be given to the roll call teacher or placed in the box in the front office.
Persistent Lateness
There is a system in place to deal with students who are persistently late. All late arrivals are recorded by a member of the executive in their role as Lateness Coordinator, the lateness is recorded in a Late folder and information is stored electronically and as a hard copy. On the third occasion that a student arrives to school late, he/she will receive a half lunch detention, which will be supervised by a member of the executive. They will continue to receive a detention every time they are late.
Failure to attend the lunch detention will be dealt as an incident of disobedience and non-compliance and usual school consequences will be applied. Ongoing issues will be dealt with by the Head Teacher Administration, and may include the use of monitoring cards, parent contact, afternoon detentions or suspension from school.
